ACT II
Two self-described pensioners, one recumbent tandem now hauling a 25kg trailer, and 4,900km of Australia between Perth and Sydney — across the Nullarbor Plain, including 90 dead-straight miles of it without so much as a bend to break the monotony, and along the Great Ocean Road. Dinner on the tough nights is a Bush Tucker Trial of instant pasta and Mars bars, eaten while keeping half an eye out for sharks and crocodiles, fingers crossed for no snakes, and absolutely no warning at all about the emus. The flies need no looking out for — they’ve already found you. Sydney is the finish line. Getting there is the entertainment.
